  <description>Zygoma Diploma

by Charles Rice Goff III

"Zygoma Diploma" is Volume Twenty-Nine of the Taped Rugs "Uncooked" series of productions. All sounds on this CD were recorded by Charles Rice Goff III alone and alive in the Taped Rugs studio in Kansas City, Kansas. They are presented here in their original forms without the addition of effects nor overdubbed materials.

Goff recorded the 70-minute improvisation presented on "Zygoma Diploma" on April 7th, 2011. For the convenience of listeners with time constraints and attention deficits, Goff divided the improvisation into two sections at a convenient midway lull in the sonic activity. In this unique recording, Goff's vocals blend with oddly-played selections from a number of vinyl record albums. Both of these sound sources are fed through the rhythm-washing treatments of a Korg R3 Vocoder/Synthesizer, creating an ever-evolving maze of sonic pathways for the listener's ears to follow. Goff employed the collection of instruments and non-instruments listed below to create this improvised composition:

Korg R3 Vocoder/Synthesizer
Yamaha TG33 Tone Generator
Voice
K-Mart Portable Phonograph
Several Vinyl Record Albums
Boss RC 20X Loop Station Loop Duplicator
Electronic Sound Generators (Toys)
Animal Calls
